What is a strategy?
Put simply, developing a strategy is the process of first understanding the outcomes you seek, then exploring what you could do, before determining what you should do.
We often use the double-diamond diagram to explain this process of discovery and decision making.
A good strategy answers the question: what should I do? It sets out who your audience is, what job you do for them, who else is doing that job, and how you’re going to do that job better.
Successful strategy
A successful strategy is one where your key stakeholders;
- have fed into the creative process
- have helped with prioritising options
- have understood resourcing constraints
- ultimately support the direction.
Our interactive and collaborative workshops ensure you hear all voices and establish the necessary agreement. It’s important to go slow when building this alignment, so you can go fast when you have achieved it.
We specialise in using data, customer insights, and structured thinking workshops to help our clients define how they can do their ‘job' better.
We have a range of tools we combine in different ways to develop a strategy. No two projects are ever the same, but the final output of our strategy work is normally:
- a high-level project plan that defines the outcomes you are working towards, and how you’ll achieve them
- a visual ‘Future State’ presentation you can use to communicate the strategic vision to your staff, stakeholders and partners.
If you’re looking for help with your strategy, the best place for us to start is with a discovery workshop or a digital channel review. These can be small one-off pieces of work, but will quickly help you understand how we could help, and what shape your strategy might take.
